What Is Direct Debit?
Direct Debit is a cashless payment method that allows Amway to collect payment directly from your bank account after you have authorized the transaction.
This payment method is available in the following countries:
- Austria
- Belgium
- France
- Germany
- Ireland
- Italy
- Netherlands
- Portugal
- Spain
- United Kingdom
When paying by Direct Debit, the funds are not withdrawn immediately when the order is placed. The debit is processed after a few days, and the exact timing varies by market.
Authorize Direct Debit Payments
To use Direct Debit, you must provide Amway with a written authorization, known as a Direct Debit mandate.
The mandate must include:
- Your bank account details
- Your permission for Amway to withdraw funds directly from your bank account
Without a valid mandate, Direct Debit payments cannot be processed.
Manage Existing Direct Debit Mandates
Starting January 1, 2023, Amway no longer accepts new Direct Debit applications.
Who can still use Direct Debit?
Only Amway Business Owners (ABOs) who had an active Direct Debit arrangement before January 1, 2023, can continue to:
- Use Direct Debit as a payment method
- Update or edit their existing Direct Debit details
New Direct Debit mandates cannot be created currently (no new Direct Debit account can be registered currently). Direct Debit can be used as method of payment only if registered before January 1, 2023.
Understand Direct Debit Payment Statuses
Why does my order show "Not Paid"?
When an order is placed using Direct Debit, the payment is not collected immediately. Therefore, the payment status remains:
"Not Paid"
This status remains unchanged until Amway successfully or unsuccessfully processes the withdrawal from your bank account.
When does the status change to "Paid"?
The payment status changes to:
"Paid"
when the funds have been successfully withdrawn from your bank account.
When does the status change to "Reversed"?
The payment status changes to:
"Reversed"
if the bank is unable to process the withdrawal and the Direct Debit payment fails.
What Happens if a Direct Debit Payment Fails?
If a Direct Debit payment cannot be collected from your bank account:
- The order value is transferred to your Accounts Receivable (AR) balance as a negative adjustment.
- Additional bank fees may be charged.
- The amount of the bank fees depends on:
- The local market
- The policies and charges of the bank involved
To avoid additional charges, ensure that sufficient funds are available in your bank account when the Direct Debit collection is processed.
