VAT (Partita IVA) Requirements for ABOs in Italy
In Italy, if an Amway Business Owner (ABO) earns more than €6,410.26 gross in a calendar year, they must open a Partita IVA (VAT number).
This is a legal requirement.
What Happens When You Reach the Income Limit?
-
If your income approaches the €6,410.26 limit, Amway will block bonus payments until you provide your VAT number.
-
If you don’t exceed the limit by the end of the year, the blocked bonuses will be automatically released at the beginning of the next year.
Tax-Free Zone Residents
Even if you live in a tax-free zone, if you are registered as an Italian citizen, you must also open a Partita IVA once the income limit is reached.
How to Open a VAT Number
There are two ways to open a Partita IVA:
-
Independently (on your own)
-
Through the agency "Service Point", partnered with Amway since January 2023:
-
They charge a yearly fee of €210 (taken from Amway Rewards).
-
Contact: amministrazione@servicepointsas.com
-
Once your VAT number is active, you must inform Amway.
Closing a VAT Number
-
If you close your VAT number after exceeding the threshold (even just once), Amway cannot pay you bonuses again until you open a new VAT number.
-
If you resign and stay inactive for one year, you can rejoin without needing a VAT number.
Transferring Your ABO Code
You can transfer your ABO code to someone without a VAT number, but only if their income will stay below €6,410.26 during the year.
If not, the new person must also register a VAT number.
Invoicing Rules
-
You can use either your Codice Fiscale (tax ID) or Partita IVA to issue invoices — not both.
What If Amway Isn’t Informed of VAT Closure?
-
If you close your VAT and don’t tell Amway, invoices will be rejected, and Finance will investigate.
-
If your business cannot legally continue without VAT, bonuses will be blocked, and you will be notified.
-
If you don’t reopen the VAT within 30 days, your contract may be terminated.
Informing Amway in Advance
If you tell Amway in advance about closing your VAT, they will check if your business can continue without it.
-
If allowed, you stay active and can still place orders.
